Location

The Hotel Villa Argentina is located in the residential area of ​Luarca, council of Valdés Barrera´s Park, the heart of the architectural ensemble of 1900 representative.

From the hotel, after a short and lovely walk we will meet at the fishing village of Luarca, birthplace of the illustrious D.Severo Ochoa and others, to places fond of its history as the Cambaral, the lighthouse of the Atalaya and the beach of Portizuelo.

  • From Oviedo motorway - First detour naming Luarca (Luarca, Barcia, Almuña), then continue to the junction with the Faro Luarca-Villar. Continue to the junction where the hotel is signposted.

Activities

From Villar de Luarca can be organized many walking routes, both to visit mountains (breathtaking views of the coastline through a mountain track in San Anton de Cuncilleiro) to see coast (Portizuelo beach 800 m., Luarca beach to 1.3 km ...)

They also organize various routes from the hotel dining mixed with interesting stops both within our council, and its coast.

Also from the hotel you can hire several additional activities such as horseback riding, quad biking, cycling, diving, canoeing, guided trekking, 4x4 excursions...

The Villa La Argentina Hotel tourist ways

Way 1 - Walk by the western coast - Luarca, the white town on the green coast

The ways begins in “ Villar de Luarca”, the heart of the “Casas de Indianos” ( Spanish emigrant to latin America who returned to Spain having made his fortune and built houses in their birth places) in the west of the region and where it is situated the most representative examples of this architectural monument. Going out of the hotel, we take the road to the lighthouse, passing opposite to the old hospital and the religious school, both of them are a donation by The Fernandez brothers of Villa la Argentina. There, we follow the way doing a stop at the state secondary school to visit the Cepesma museum, where we can see the most important fish species in the Cantabrico Sea, as the incredible gigantic squid.

We continue the way by the lighthouse road to the “mareantes table”, a place where the fisher heads used to meet to make decisions about the future of the trade union profession.

Nowadays it enjoys a nice view of the port as well as majestic mural bluhished with a brief history about the town.

Close to this place you can visit the luarca´s lighthouse, the atalayas´s chapel and the graveyard, where rest Severo Ochoa doctor, our Nobel, near discoverer the view on the port and the beach are unbeatable.

In Luarca city centre we can visit the port, the cambaral neighbourhood, and “la rula” where we can see the fish sold.

Following the left way of the river we will arrive to the beaches, doing a stop before in the fisher neighbourhood and going up to the view point situated at the top of the "chano de Luarca".

Way 2 – A walk by the western coast - From Luarca to Ribadeo

Going out of Luarca, we take the N-634 road to Ribadeo. The first stop is in Otur, to visit the beach, easily accessible by car.

We follow to Puerto Vega, taking the road to Vigo town and later taking another road to Barayo beach, natural place, which has an unique lake, in a dune landscape where we can see birds in a peaceful environment.

Puerto Vega is the next stop, a small fisher town, our way stops again in Viavelez, another fisher town, with a nice entrance to the port.

The next visit is tapia de casariego, where the port walk and the way to the beach is pleasant, seeing the coast of Galicia in front of us.

Way 3 - Our forest and small towns - "The Paredes valley"

We go out of Luarca, taking the N-634 road to Canero, to take again following the N-634 road to Trevias-La Espina.

Our first stop is in Brieves, where we will visit the centre of the small village “ the medieval arches” that joins the houses with “horreos” and “paneras” ( raised granary typical of Asturias).

We continue by the AS-221 road following to Paredes to enjoy the typical landscape or continue the way of “esva” river.

In paredes we can visit the small village work-shop craftsmen or make the “dolmen del Rastiello” way.

Continuing by the AS-221 road we arrives to ovienes, where at the small village entrance, we find a small way to the chapel.

After visiting the chapel, in the road, we find the ovienes menhir (a funeral monument). Following the same road, we arrive to Naraval, where we find the “vaqueiros” small Village museum.

Then, we take the AS-219 road to Navelgas. In Navelgas, we can the Roman and English gold mines, that are very good preserved in the middle of the forest. We arrive there following the diversion to the recreational area, after the petrol station.

In the middle of the small town, we follow the diversion to Muñalen, where you can enjoy the typical dish “ fabada” excellent ( Asturian stew made of beans, Spanish sausage, black blood sausage and bacon.) there we can visit the Forest museum, where we can see flowers and trees most important of our area.

From there, we can go to Luarca by the AS-219 road or follow the road from Navelgas to Tineo by the AS- 215 road and from Tineo to go up to La espina to follow the N-634 road and come back to Luarca.

Way 4 - Our forest and small towns - The Oscos and Taramundi region

We go out of Luarca taking the N-634 road to Ribadeo, but we take a detour from Navia to Coaña by the AS-12 road, in Coaña we will visit “ the castro Celta”, the most important celtic fortification of Asturias. There is a museum next to the “castro” that will help us to understand better our visit to the ruins.

From Coaña we will take the AS-12 road to Boal, where we can have a break, because there is a museum dedicated to the honey, typical of this area.

We can go on the tour to “ Grandas de Salime”, where we can visit the reservoir of water, the ethnological museum, the biggest dedicated to know our ancestors´ habits

From Grandas, we will take the AS-13 road to San Martin de Oscos, where we will have to find how to reach San pedro de Agueira, a typical livestock- farming village.

From San Martin de Oscos, we could take the road to santa eulalia de oscos to visit “mazonovo”, or take the AS-13 road to Villa nueva de Oscos to visit San Cristobal, a village that is an example of the emigration and unpopulated of the area. We can return to Villanueva and take the AS-11 road and then take the AS-26 road to Taramundi, where we can visit the “teixois” museum, where we can visit the different sources of the improvement of the hydraulic energy.

We should also visit the iron work-shop craftsman in Mazonovo, specialized in penknife. From Taramundi, we take the AS- 21 road to Vegadeo, where we will take the N-640 road to Castropol and then to Luarca.

Way 5 – Paseo por la Costa Occidental - Desde Luarca a Avilés

We go out of Luarca by the N-634 road to Canero, soon we will arrive to caroyas, where is the “Cuevas´ beach”, the mouth of our river “Esva”.

The next stop is in Cadavedo, where we can visit “campo de la Regalina”.

From Cadavedo, we will go to Castañeras to lose us in the silence’s beach, next to this beach, we can see the “cabo vidio”, the second most important of Asturias.

Cudillero will be our next destination, to see “ the selgas palace” and the harbour.

We take the N-632 road to go to Salinas, to visit the maritime walk and the anchors´ museum tributed to Jean Jaqcues Costeau and then we arrive to Aviles, the second harbour more important in Asturias.

Its old town have three areas ( Galiana, Rivero and Ferrera). We advise you to visit the Marques de Ferrera park.
